Vall d’Hebron
Vall d’Hebron is a world-renowned public healthcare complex comprising four hospitals: the General Hospital, the Children’s Hospital, the Women’s Hospital, and the Hospital for Traumatology, Rehabilitation, and Burns. This hospital complex provides comprehensive care services to more than 430,000 people in the city of Barcelona.

Objective
Analyzing the impact of telerehabilitation on waiting lists for patients with chronic musculoskeletal problems
Solution
Vall d’Hebron Hospital implemented the ReHub digital platform to provide telerehabilitation services to its patients with chronic knee, lower back, and shoulder conditions.
For six months, a hybrid rehabilitation system was implemented, scheduling an average of three in-person physiotherapy sessions and 29 telerehabilitation sessions during the peak of demand due to COVID-19.
Thanks to ReHub, patients did not have to physically travel to the hospital as they could perform their exercises from home. Physiotherapists used ReHub to remotely monitor patient progress, facilitating follow-up and allowing for personalized therapy. Hospital administrators were also able to increase the operational capacity of rehabilitation services.
Results
More than 400 patients used ReHub during the 6-month period analyzed. The use of ReHub was shown to have a direct impact on improving the operational efficiency of rehabilitation services, achieving a 15% reduction in waiting lists.
