Rehabilitation Hub: The World’s first Digital Recovery Therapy solution

The ReHub project is an innovative digital telerehabilitation solution developed by DyCare for patients with chronic musculoskeletal disorders.

This 2018 report underscores ReHub’s high quality and significant potential, highlighting its commercial impact, technological innovation, and operational viability. The evaluation was very positive, achieving a score of 14.25/15 in Step 1, thus securing funding for the project’s continued development and expansion.

The ReHub project, supported by DyCare, aims to transform the landscape of digital rehabilitation for patients with chronic musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), such as rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain, which affect more than 100 million people in Europe. Currently, conventional rehabilitation programs are costly and ineffective, with a high dropout rate. In this context, ReHub offers a telerehabilitation solution that enables remote rehabilitation and patient monitoring.

The ReHub system is based on wearable sensors that collect objective data on muscle strength and joint movements. This data is processed using intelligent algorithms, allowing physiotherapists to create personalized rehabilitation programs and adjust exercises as needed. Furthermore, the platform guides the patient through the exercises, providing real-time feedback to ensure correct execution and improve motivation.

REPORT RESULTS

The project has reached TRL 7, having validated its first prototype in three healthcare facilities. The results obtained so far are highly promising: ReHub has demonstrated a 40% reduction in patient recovery time, a 90% increase in rehabilitation completion rate, and a 60% improvement in healthcare facility productivity.

REPORT CONCLUSIONS

ReHub not only has great potential to improve patient health but also to create an efficient and accessible digital rehabilitation market in Europe. The company plans to use the requested funding to optimize the system’s artificial intelligence algorithms, industrialize the hardware components, and conduct two large-scale clinical trials to validate the platform’s effectiveness. ReHub’s B2C business model will connect physiotherapists, doctors, and patients through an easy-to-use online platform. The project aims to gain recognition in the European market and sell 1,239 licenses by 2022, reaching 165,000 patients and generating €13.8 million in revenue.
